Song Analysis

Poetry and Song
The song I chose to analyze was "Marshal Mathers" by Eminem. I chose this song to show that a song may be enterpreted as violent or it was misenterpreted. As I listened to the song I got a very different image than what most people probably got. Most people may think this song is about him fighting people he doesn't like as he talks trash about a group called "ICP". Others may recieve the notion that he is angry with the general population or the world for how they treat him now, which in my opinion is close. When I listened I got the sense that when you do something big or shocking to others, it can totally switch there view of you. In his chorus he states "You see I'm just Marshall Mathers, I'm just a regular guy I don't know why all the fuss about me, nobody ever gave a F**** before all they did was doubt me, now everybody wanna run they mouth and try to take shots at me." When I hear this I think of how before he made it big, no one wanted to listen to his music because he was a white rapper, and because he had no credible sources or allies. As soon as Dr.Dre signed him and put his album out there, everybody loved him and now being white and able to rap is amazing, but alot of other white people who try to rap are critisized and recieve comments such as "What you think you're Eminem?" or "Okay take it easy Vanilla Ice". He also talks about how now that he has plenty of money his family wants to contact him and be close, but also alot of people who were friends or civil with him now have an issue with him because he made it. Also alot of people wanted to challenge him such as other rappers or people wanted to fight him.
